Welcome to Mahura Weaves, where we’re dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional art of handloom weaving in Assam. The word “Mahura” derives from Assamese language, referring to the “pirn,” a pivotal tool in weaving that holds the yarn onto the loom. This name Mahura Weaves encapsulates the core essence of the weaving process, symbolizing the deep connection between tradition and craft, and reflecting a harmonious blend of culture and creativity.

We empower over 3,600 rural artisans in Kamrup and Darrang districts, providing them with platforms to market their handloom products sustainably. Our focus lies in spotlighting Assam’s unique handloom offerings, amplifying their presence in national and global markets.
